Marco Silva debunks rumours linking Moise Kean to Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva has poured cold water on speculation linking the Cottagers with a move for Juventus striker Moise Kean.

The 23-year-old Italy international had emerged as a possible candidate to replace their former free-scoring striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who completed a club-record move to Al-Hilal last weekend.

Kean has only scored 14 goals in 84 games since returning to Juventus two years ago, offering little encouragement regarding his ability to fire Fulham to success.

Fulham are in the market for a striker who can guarantee goals consistently, making Kean, who has previously failed to make an impact in the Premier League, an unappealing proposition.

While the Cottagers desperately need to get a prolific number nine before the transfer window closes next week, Silva has debunked rumours linking his side with a move for the former Everton flop.

“No, Moise Kean is not a solution for us”, Silva said (via the Evening Standard). “I don’t like to talk about players that are not our players.

“Moise Kean is a player from Juventus. But I can confirm he is not the player we are looking for.”

Asked about Mitrovic and his potential replacement, Silva said: “I will not answer about Mitrovic because it would be a lack of respect to the players we have in our squad right now.

“He understood my ideas and executed them. With more time, it would be less difficult [to replace him]. Right now, at this moment in the market, it is really difficult.

“This is the problem when you leave things for the last week of the market. We are not in the best position.”

Silva’s side have rippled the net just once in their opening two Premier League games, highlighting their dire lack of a prolific central figure at the top end of the pitch.

They have already added Raul Jimenez to their squad, while Carlos Vinicius also represents an option, but the Cottagers could struggle significantly if they do not sign a potent striker this summer.
