Marc-André ter Stegen has been injured for over a month and Barcelona are hoping that he will be fit for their Champions League games against Napoli in 2024.
The last 16 tie takes place in mid-February and is a hopeful aim for the German shot-stopper. As reported by Relevo, the club have not come out and officially said the injury that he has picked up.
He underwent medical examinations on the morning of Monday, December 4 and a few days later, the decision was taken for him to have an operation.
He has currently missed six games through injury and Iñaki Peña has been deputising in his absence. Barça’s form has been poor in those games, through no fault of Peña’s, but it is an interesting observation. They have only won two of those games and they are currently winless in their last three games.
The title challenge has taken a hit and they currently find themselves seven points behind Real Madrid. The pressure on Xavi is mounting.
