Kobbie Mainoo has withdrawn his request to leave Manchester United in the winter transfer window, per Indykaila.
It was suggested the 20-year-old was pushing for a loan exit after being frustrated with lack of opportunities this season.
But the youngster has had a change of heart regarding his future at Old Trafford.
Mainoo has made 11 Premier League appearances, with all of them coming off the bench.
However, his fortunes will likely improve now that Ruben Amorim is no longer at the helm.
United announced Amorim’s departure on Monday after the Portuguese aimed pointed comments at the club’s hierarchy following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Leeds United.
Darren Fletcher has been appointed as interim coach, and Mainoo is set to earn more minutes under the Scot as he plays a 4-33 or 4-2-3-1 system.
The England international has missed United’s previous four games due to a calf issue, but he is reportedly closing in on a return.
The young midfielder is back on grass and has been doing individual training for a week now.
Although the club are determined not to rush him back and risk aggravating the injury problem.
United have been without many key players due to a combination of injury and international calls.
Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui are all playing at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), while Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount are sidelined with fitness issues.
