Manchester City have reached an agreement with Ligue 1 side Rennes over the transfer of Belgian winger Jérémy Doku, according to a report this afternoon from Foot Mercato.
The 21-year-old, who scored on the opening day of the campaign against Metz, had emerged as the Premier League champions’ priority target to replace Riyad Mahrez earlier this month.
Having turned down an initial proposal from West Ham, the Bretons have now agreed to sell the wide man to Manchester City – Doku’s second half cameo against Lens last night ostensibly his final appearance in red and black.
The treble winners will sign the Belgian international, who had moved to France in 2020 from Anderlecht, for a fee of just over €60m, along with a 20% cut of a future sale. Manchester City had pushed ahead with getting a deal over the line after Lucas Paquetá’s prospective move from West Ham collapsed, in the wake of betting-related allegations concerning the Brazilian.
