Manchester City has been offered a £35million transfer bid from Chelsea

In a recent report, Manchester EVenning News mentioned that Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has been offered a £35million transfer bid from Chelsea. The English winger has been linked to several clubs in the past month but his future certainly hangs in the balance as Pep Guardiola remains reluctant to let him go, whereas on the contrary Sterling wishes to exit in the search of regular game time.

Sterling’s Campaign For Manchester City Last Season

Sterling has produced plenty of impressive displays in the attacking end. However, despite that he has failed to take a place in Guardiola’s starting XI. The 27-year-old scored 17 goals and created nine assists over 47 appearances for Man City last season across all competitions.

The former Liverpool player has been a consistent performer for City over the last seven years. He has been efficient in the last season as well based on his average of 1.9 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Premier League. Sterling was also tidy with his ball distribution in the opponent’s half after he completed 85.4% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Cash In?

Sterling can use his pace and agility to make some decent runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He can cut inside and make some impressive turns due to his ball control at the attacking end of the field. He can make a few decisive passes into the penalty box to set up his teammates with easy goals and can often be a good finisher in front of the opposition goal.

We can expect Sterling to add more goals to the Blues’ attack and add balance to Chelsea‘s frontline. He remains versatile enough to virtually play anywhere across the frontline which makes him a brilliant addition to Tuchel’s starting XI.

At 27, Sterling is currently playing in his prime and could make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge, should he decide to move away.

Sterling’s future at Manchester City would not be bright considering they have found a solution to their number 9 area. Guardiola already favours Foden in Sterling’s preferred position, so the England international will be looking at a reduced game time which threatens his growth. Therefore, a move away would be the most viable option. Guardiola should be wise to sell him this summer since his contract expires next season.
