Manchester United are working on a deal to sign RC Lens star Mamadou Sangare this summer to bolster their midfield, according to Touchline X.
The Red Devils are expected to undertake a major overhaul of their midfield in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Casemiro set to depart when his contract expires, while there are also question marks over the futures of Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes.
But while it’s well established that Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson is their number one target for the position, it has now emerged that the club are already making moves ahead of the market opening to bring in another midfield talent.

Sangare, who has been described as ‘one of the best midfielders in Europe this season’ by journalist Ben Bocsak, has been exceptional for Ligue 1 outfit Lens this season.
The central midfielder has registered two goals and two assists in 21 appearances this season, but his performances offer far more than goal contributions, and he also shone at the African Cup of Nations for Mali, where he started all five of their games.
It’s now understood that United are specifically looking for a midfielder with a box-to-box profile this summer, and he is seen as their first option for that role. It’s unclear if Lens are open to a deal or if the player is willing to move, but it’s reported that the club would be willing to pay up to £35m to bring him to Old Trafford.
With Ugarte expected to leave alongside Casemiro, a more defensive-minded midfielder will be a necessity and Sangare fits that bill, as he sits among the top performing midfielders in Europe for possessions won and also duels won.
