Man Utd Need to Sell Diogo Dalot Despite Being ‘One of Amorim’s Favourites’

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has been a regular in Ruben Amorim’s side since his arrival, but INEOS need to look at cashing in if they want to progress.

Dalot made the move to Old Trafford at the age of 19, joining the Manchester club from Portuguese side Porto. At the time, Dalot was a young, exciting talent, and he’s been in and amongst the United senior squad ever since. It was Jose Mourinho who brought Dalot to England, and he’s managed to survive under multiple different managers.

So far this campaign, Dalot has featured in 14 Premier League games, starting 11 of them, more than any other their other natural full-backs in the squad. The Portuguese international has started the previous five league games in a row, with United winning twice during that period.

Time for Man Utd to Cash In on Diogo Dalot

Dalot has been given plenty of chances during his United career, and they’ve struggled to be successful on a consistent basis during his time at the club. If the Red Devils want to progress and go to the next level, then it’s time for United to cash in on the former Porto full-back.

If the Red Devils stick with Ruben Amorim, then they need to find some specialist wing-backs that suit the system, and Dalot isn’t one of them. Described as ‘one of Amorim’s favourites’, Dalot is rarely able to produce consistent performances, but he remains a regular at Old Trafford.

Manuel Ugarte Takes a Lot of the Criticism

Manuel Ugarte in action for Manchester United

Manuel Ugarte is one United player who regularly receives plenty of criticism, but he’s rarely been involved this season, and the Red Devils are still struggling. Dalot has been a constant for many years now and United are still failing overall, so it’s time for them to move on.

Ugarte is rightly criticised for some of his performances, but he’s often a scapegoat when he’s far from the only one who is struggling to perform.
