Manchester United have identified Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson as their ‘dream’ signing for the summer transfer window, according to Manchester World.
The Red Devils have made upgrading their midfield options a priority this summer after Casemiro confirmed he would be departing at the end of his contract, while there are question marks over the long-term futures of Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford too.
It’s expected that the club will allocate the majority of their budget towards revamping the heart of their team, and it’s now emerged that they already know the man they want above all else.
Man Utd ‘Dream’ of Signing Anderson
Anderson, who has been called ‘one of the world’s leading players’, has progressed into one of the top midfielders in the Premier League this season for Forest, despite their struggles, and even earned himself a spot in the England team under Thomas Tuchel.
That has seen a number of clubs take a liking to him, and with Forest battling at the bottom of the Premier League to avoid relegation, a summer move is looking more and more likely with each passing game.
A new central midfielder is known to be the top priority at Old Trafford for the next transfer window, and it has now emerged that INEOS chiefs consider the former Newcastle player to be the ‘dream target’.
It’s believed that the England international could demand a club-record fee if Forest remain in the Premier League and he shines at the World Cup this summer, and United may be willing to pay it.
The club are desperate to add at least one Premier League-proven, top level midfielder to the squad, with Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba also targeted for the position. United chiefs believe there is ‘less risk’ with that type of move, and point to the success of Mbeumo and Cunha this season to prove it.
Anderson The Ultimate Premier League Midfielder
With Kobbie Mainoo shining under Michael Carrick, the young midfielder has proven his worth as a starting option in the team. But Manuel Ugarte has struggled in the Premier League, and with Casemiro leaving in the summer, an elite-level replacement is needed.
Anderson has shown that he is capable of making an impact at every level, and his comfort on the ball and ability off it make him the ultimate option for Man Utd.
A club-record deal means an outlay of at least £90m, beating the sum paid for Paul Pogba, but if he can continue his top form and improve in the coming years, then it would be money well spent.
