Man Utd in Talks to Sign Antoine Semenyo in January

Manchester United have held direct talks over a January move for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Old Trafford side, along with arch-rivals Manchester City, have both made calls this week regarding the 25-year-old forward, who is expected to depart the Dorset coast next month.

Semenyo has a release clause worth £65m that is active for around the first 10 days of January and has yet to make a decision over his next move.

The ‘world-class’ Ghanaian forward has been in exceptional form this Premier League season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 15 appearances.

Man Utd Pushing to Sign Semenyo

Romano, writing on X, revealed that both Man United and Man City are ‘pushing’ for Semenyo’s arrival in January, with both clubs holding direct talks this week.

A move for Semenyo would represent another high-profile attacking arrival at Old Trafford in the past six months, following Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo’s arrivals this summer.

United could be without Mbeumo for almost a month, with the forward away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon.

Ruben Amorim’s side were also missing Sesko for around a month due to injury, but the Slovenian made his return to the squad in the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth on Monday.

Amorim May Use Semenyo at Wing-Back

With Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko the nailed-on starting front three, Semenyo’s arrival at Old Trafford could see the Ghanaian winger used in an unusual role.

There have been suggestions the 25-year-old could be brought in as an option at wing-back, with United reportedly looking for a more attacking-minded player to play on the left.

The Red Devils have trusted Amad Diallo extensively on the right this season, while the other flank has been occupied by Diogo Dalot in recent games.

January arrival Patrick Dorgu, who started the season at left wing-back, has struggled for game time recently and was publicly criticised by Amorim last month.

Kobbie Mainoo Decision Made

Man United are unlikely to sell Kobbie Mainoo in January despite his struggles for regular football under Amorim this season.

According to reports, only an ‘exceptional offer’ may change the Red Devils’ stance at the turn of the year, as Amorim still views the 20-year-old as a key part of his plans.
