Man Utd could sign Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell

Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell, according to talkSPORT.

The 27-year-old has reportedly been told he is not part of manager Enzo Maresca’s plans.

He was left out of the squad for the Premier League opener against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

United are currently without left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as they are recovering from injury issues.

Diogo Dalot played out of position in the Red Devils’ 1-0 victory over Fulham on Friday.

Newcomer Noussair Mazraoui can also play on the left but mainly operates as a right-back.

Chilwell could be a smart signing provided United don’t end up paying a huge fee for him.

He joined Chelsea from Leicester City in a deal worth around £45 million in 2020 (per BBC Sport).

Chilwell has bagged nine goals and assists in 106 appearances across all competitions for the Blues.

However, he made only nine Premier League starts last term amid multiple injury concerns.
