Manchester United are interested in Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, according to the Daily Mail. The Red Devils want new striking options and have the teen talent on their radar.
United will not attempt to keep Wout Weghorst at the club after an unimpressive six-month loan spell in which he has scored only twice in 20 appearances.
The Dutchman will return to Burnley at the end of the season.
Also, backup striker Anthony Martial is injury-prone and an unreliable option for coach Erik ten Hag. His contract ends in 2024, and his future with the club is uncertain.
United want to bring the talented Ferguson to United. Although, the article mentions that United want two strikers. They want Ferguson and a more experienced first-choice centre-forward.
Ferguson has burst onto the scene with four goals and two assists in 12 Premier League games.
He has one goal and one assist in two EFL Cup games. He has three goals in four FA Cup appearances.
Ferguson has earned praise from his Brighton head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, and Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe. He has three international caps netting once against Latvia.
Unsurprisingly, the 18-year-old has attracted the attention of top English clubs. They are circling the youngster despite him being on a contract till 2026.
United want the towering striker who idolised Wayne Rooney, but they are not the only suitors. Tottenham Hotspur also like the player and want to take him to London.
Amid the Premier League interest, Brighton expect the player to stay and grow with them. They believe he will value his game time and development over an early big-money move.
United and Tottenham might have to look elsewhere for strikers, with Brighton unwilling to let their gem go.
Coincidentally, United want Tottenham’s Kane to be the first-choice striker while Ferguson plays backup to the England international.
However, that will be difficult with Tottenham boss Daniel Levy who does not want to let the 29-year-old go. Kane could end up running his contract down and walking for free in 2024.
Apart from United, Bayern Munich, PSG, and Real Madrid are monitoring Kane’s situation.
