Malang Sarr to remain at Chelsea after touted move to Le Havre falls through

Malang Sarr’s (25) rumoured move to Le Havre AC has fallen through after an agreement couldn’t be reached between Chelsea and the Frenchman regarding a contract termination.

Sarr spent last season on loan at AS Monaco, however, his time at the Principality club was marked by a lack of form and recurring injuries, which prevented him from getting into any kind of rhythm. As a result, Les Monégasques did not exercise the option to make the deal permanent.

Upon his return to Chelsea, it was quickly made clear that Sarr did not feature in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at the club, however, the Blues failed to find a new destination for the French centre-back. Sarr therefore remained at Stamford Bridge, but he has not featured at all this season.

Sarr has 18 months remaining on his deal at Chelsea and a move to Le Havre was seemingly contingent upon this contract being terminated prematurely, as per L’Equipe journalist Loïc TanziHowever, an agreement between Chelsea and Sarr to terminate the contract was not reached. As a result, the former OGC Nice defender will not join Le Havre and will instead remain with the Blues.
