As reported by Florian Schlecht, Mainz’s sporting director, Christian Heidel, has confirmed that Brajan Gruda is likely to join Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.
It had previously been reported that the Premier League outfit were closing in on a deal to sign the German under-21 international.
It was believed that the two clubs had agreed on a €30 million fee for the 20-year-old, with personal terms between Gruda and Brighton having already been completed.
However, Mainz’s sporting director, Christian Heidel, has now confirmed the truth behind the reports: “The probability that the transfer will happen is very high.”
Nevertheless, it is understood that the deal is not yet perfect, with the final details yet to be agreed upon.
Despite this, the two clubs are looking to get this deal over the line as soon as possible.
Last season, Gruda introduced himself as one of the most talented young players in the Bundesliga, helping Mainz comfortably avoid relegation after a difficult start to the season by scoring four goals and collecting three assists.
