Mainz 05 confirmed that Arnaud Nordin completed his loan move to Stade Rennais in the closing hour of deadline day. The 27-year-old has featured 25 times for Mainz in all competitions, but only eight of them came from the start.
Nordin spent eight seasons at AS Saint-Étienne and Montpellier before joining the Bundesliga side at the start of last year. He can reach 200 Ligue 1 appearances with his second game for the Brittany side.
“Arnaud (Nordin) approached us with the desire to be loaned to Rennes in the hope of more playing time. He has the chance to assert himself at the top level in his home country. We wish him all the best and a successful time in Rennes.” said Mainz’s sporting director Niko Bungert.
Rennes are currently sixth in Ligue 1, but they suffered a 4-0 defeat on the weekend away at Monaco. Nordin’s Mainz contract will run until the end of the 2027/28 season.
