Mainz have reportedly held a meeting with Tom Krauß and RB Leipzig over a potential transfer of the 21-year-old midfielder, according to Bild.
It is known that Leipzig wants to sell Krauß as they are well-stacked in midfield and the 21-year-old will find it difficult to break into the team. For Mainz, Krauß is seen as a potential replacement for Anton Stach or Leandro Barreiro. There have been no concrete offers for the two but Mainz would like to be prepared in case of a sale.
However, Mainz are not the only team interested in Krauß. As per Florian Plettenberg, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Everton are also interested in the 21-year-old.
There was a €3m obligation to buy for Schalke if they were to stay in the Bundesliga, their relegation now means that has passed, Krauß is now set to cost between €4-7m. The 21-year-old would like to take his time in deciding his future.
