As reported by Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Mainz have agreed a deal for Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque.
The 28-year-old had attracted interest from other Bundesliga clubs in Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg but Mainz have beat them in the race for Ajorque. The Frenchman had a contract at Strasbourg that expired in 2024, and it’s now reported that Ajorque has already said goodbye to his Strasbourg teammates.
Ajorque joined Strasbourg in 2018 from Clermont Foot and has scored 51 goals in his 151 games for the club. His best season came in 2020-21 when he scored 16 goals in 35 games for the club.
Mainz entered the market after Jonathan Burkardt’s injury has taken longer to heal than expected. In their last Bundesliga game, they started with Marcus Ingvartsen up front who is their top scorer with five goals this season whilst Karim Onisiwo has proven to be another option.
Mainz’s next game in the Bundesliga is against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
