Liverpool Will Win PL For Next 5 Years if They Sign ‘Complete Player’, Says Troy Deeney

Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions last weekend. The Reds have been a class above the rest throughout the whole season and they finally got the job done at Anfield on Sunday as they thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1.

Arne Slot’s side can now enjoy their final four games of the season before their attention turns to the summer transfer window. After spending very little last summer, Liverpool are expected to go all out in an attempt to improve their squad this time round.

According to the Telegraph, Slot will be backed with one of Liverpool’s biggest-ever summer transfer budgets as they bid to make it back-to-back Premier League titles. Fabrizo Romano has stated that they are looking to strengthen in a number of areas, with one of their main priorities being a new striker.

Troy Deeney claims there are only five world-class players in football right now

Former Premier League player Troy Deeney has given his thoughts on where Liverpool need to strengthen. Speaking on talkSPORT, per SportBible, Deeney said: “I can see them looking at a left-back. [Andrew] Robertson has been fantastic but unfortunately, there comes a time when you get moved, it’s just part and parcel of football.

“Probably another centre half because if one of the guys goes down, they are light in that situation. And I still think they need an extra body in midfield. They haven’t been lucky but nobody in that midfield three has been injured for a sustained period of time and if that was to happen then they are a little bit light after that.”

Deeney also thinks Liverpool should sign a striker. The 20-time English champions have been heavily linked with Alexander Isak and Deeney thinks they would be unstoppable if they are able to secure a sensational deal for the Swedish forward. He said:

“They’re linked with [Alexander] Isak as well – if they were to get that, just give them the title for the next five years if they get that fella.”

Deeney has been very complimentary of Newcastle’s star player in recent times. Deeney named Isak in his Premier League Team of the Week after his performance against Ipswich, saying about him: “His movement and link-up play is excellent. This guy is the complete striker in world football.”

Liverpool will no doubt be interested in signing Isak this summer but it will be very tough to prise him away from Newcastle. The Telegraph write that Liverpool are realistic about the likelihood of luring him to Merseyside, with their chances appearing to be ‘slim to none’.

They add that Newcastle could put a price tag in excess of £130m on Isak, meaning Liverpool will have to smash their transfer record by over £45m if they are to lure him to the club.
