Liverpool and Everton will once again lock horns in the Premier League for a Merseyside derby at Anfield on Wednesday night, as both sides look to improve their form following the international break.
Arne Slot’s side crashed out of the Champions League and then lost the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle in their last outing, while David Moyes’ Toffees have drawn each of their last four games and five of their last six in the Premier League.
Both sides have got injury concerns to deal with ahead of the game though, with nine players ruled out across the teams, and that means the managers have decisions to make with their teams – so this is how GIVEMESPORT expect them to line up.
Liverpool Team News
Alexander-Arnold ruled out
The Reds have had some weeks to rest and recharge following their Wembley disappointment, but they will still be without star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold who continues to recover from an ankle injury – and could also be set to join Real Madrid.
Ryan Gravenberch and Alisson both withdrew from international duty but have trained with the team and should be available. Conor Bradley has also returned to training after being sidelined since February with a hamstring problem, but a decision must be made on if he can start of is only fit enough for the bench. Joe Gomez is still out after hamstring surgery.

Slot Drops Team News Update
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.
“Ryan [Gravenberch] is OK, although we have to train one more time, but he is OK. Alisson trained with us as well. The last check has to be made, I think that’s this afternoon after the session, [to determine] if he is available to play.
“Conor [Bradley] is training with us again but we have to make a decision on whether he is playing and if playing means coming in or starting. That’s something I keep for myself.
“But he’s only had a few sessions after being out for quite long with a repetitive injury so we have to make a smart decision with that as well.”
Liverpool Predicted XI
Chiesa back to the bench
- Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson; Quansah, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.
- Liverpool Predicted Substitutes: Kelleher (GK), Bradley (DEF), Tsimikas (DEF), Endo (MID), Jones (MID), Elliott (MID), Chiesa (FWD), Jota (FWD), Nunez (FWD).
Despite a goal in the Carabao Cup final as a substitute, £150,000-per-week winger Chiesa is likely to return to his role as a substitute for this one with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz forming the forward line.
Bradley is unlikely to be risked from the start after such a long spell out which should see Quansah back at right-back. Jota and Nunez, who earn a combined £280,000-per-week, are likely to be benched too.

Everton Team News
Mykolenko doubtful
Moyes has got a host of injuries in the attacking department at the moment and it currently seems unlikely that any of them will be available to return despite the extended break.
Dwight McNeil, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Iliman Ndiaye are all suffering with injuries, while central midfielder Orel Mangala is out for the season after an ACL tear. Vitalii Mykolenko picked up an injury on international duty which was described as “serious” by the national team coach, but the club are waiting on scan results which makes him doubtful for this game.

Moyes Drops Team News Update
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Moyes shared an update on the fitness of his squad.
“He’s [Mykolenko] got a bit of an injury but he’s back. He came in and he did a bit in training yesterday, so we’re hopeful that he’ll be okay. We still have to wait and see tomorrow exactly how he is.
“They’re doing great. Both of them [McNeil and Ndiaye] actually are coming on great. Iliman is a bit further on than Dwight at the moment but it’s great that they’re back in training. It’s helped us a little bit with having Dom [Calvert-Lewin] out as well but Dom’s the only one who is really behind it a bit at the moment. We’re just waiting on him coming back, but the rest of them are getting much closer to fitness.”
Everton Predicted XI
Ashley Young to start
- Everton Predicted XI: Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Young; Gueye, Garner; Harrison, Doucoure, Lindstrom; Beto.
- Everton Predicted Substitutes: Virginia (GK), Begovic (GK), Keane (DEF), Coleman (DEF), Patterson (DEF), Iroegbunam (MID), Alcaraz (MID), Broja (FWD), Chermiti (FWD).
Moyes is likely to go with a tried-and-tested side for the first game back, with the team in good form and performing well. Veteran Young is the likely replacement for the injured Mykolenko, while £130,000-per-week midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure should start ahead of loanee Charly Alcaraz in the number ten role.
