In a recent print edition, The Mirror (June 19, Page 79) revealed that Liverpool are open to sending Neco Williams out on loan this summer. It is understood that the Reds are willing to let the Wales international leave on loan for next season so that he can be ready for the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar.

Williams’ Impressive Loan Spell At Fulham Last Season

Williams had a decent loan spell in the EFL Championship as he produced some impressive displays for Fulham over the past six months. The Wrexham-born sensation did well to score twice and secure two assists in 15 matches for the Cottagers last season on all fronts.

The Welsh talent caught the eye by averaging 2.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 1.6 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the English Championship.

The 21-year-old was even excellent with his ball distribution after making 82.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

Liverpool Open To Sending Williams Out On Loan: Good Move For Both Parties?

Williams has begun to show flashes of what he is capable of from the right-back position. He is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back inside his half. The Wales international doesn’t hesitate in clearing the danger when needed and can even make a few driving runs with the ball down the right flank. He is a decent playmaker and can even strike the ball with power from long range.

Williams has got the potential to become a future starter at Anfield. However, at the moment, he is not ready to compete with Trent Alexander-Arnold for a regular starting spot in Jurgen Klopp‘s squad.

At 21, the future is quite bright for Williams as long as he continues to take strides towards improving his overall game with each season. Hence, Liverpool‘s decision to send the Welsh youngster will be a good move for both the player and the Merseyside club this summer.
