Liverpool now ‘leading race’ for ‘unbelievable’ £88m star at Anfield

Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are all leading the race for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport.

However, the transfer expert says the three European giants do not want to spend crazy money on the England international.

Liverpool transfer news – Jude Bellingham

Journalist Dean Jones recently told GMS that Liverpool believe that they have a great chance of landing Bellingham despite all of the competition for his signature.

Whoever signs the 19-year-old is going to have to pay an enormous fee, with The Telegraph reporting back in October that Real Madrid expect him to be on the market next summer for around £88m.

However, according to The Athletic, Dortmund’s valuation is actually much closer to £130m, a price tag that could perhaps end up scaring off some of his suitors.

For now, though, Liverpool, City and Real Madrid all look to be keen on Bellingham.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Jude Bellingham and Liverpool?

Romano says Liverpool are one of the clubs who are currently at the front of the queue for Bellingham.

Speaking to GMS, the Italian journalist said: “The reality is that Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid don’t want to offer crazy money, but these three clubs are leading the race for Jude Bellingham.”

Will Liverpool beat Manchester City and Real Madrid to Jude Bellingham’s signature?

It is too early to say, but they have to do everything they can to win this transfer tussle.

The Reds have an ageing midfield, with the likes of Jordan Henderson and James Milner now into their 30s, while Naby Keita has struggled to stay fit at Anfield and is out of contract next summer.

Considering that, Jurgen Klopp could do with a new midfielder, and there are few in the world better than Bellingham right now. His recent displays in Qatar arguably prove that.

As per WhoScored, Bellingham completed 1.2 dribbles per game at the World Cup, which was the highest average in England’s squad. He also had one of the best pass success rates among his team-mates, 90.3%.

“Bellingham’s game intelligence and passing are also unbelievable,” City legend Yaya Toure wrote in an article for The Athletic. “You could see it clearly in the way he created England’s second goal against Senegal.

“He shows his desire to get to the ball first, then shows his strength when another defender tries to stop him in a bad way while he’s running at speed.”

If Liverpool land Bellingham, it would be some signing. But with City and Real Madrid also sniffing around, it is quite a big if.
