Liverpool ‘in the mix’ to sign two World Cup sensations

Liverpool fans will find it ‘exciting’ that they are ‘in the mix’ for Borussia Dortmund pair Jude Bellingham and Youssoufa Moukoko, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Reds are amongst the sides who have been linked with the teenagers following their impressive displays for the Bundesliga giants both domestically and in the Champions League.

What is the latest news involving Liverpool?

A report from The Athletic back in September listed Liverpool as one of Bellingham’s many potential suitors alongside Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Dortmund are said to value the 19-year-old at €150 million (£131.6m), though, meaning the Anfield outfit would need to smash their transfer record in order to secure his signature.

Meanwhile, Spanish outlet SPORT has claimed that Liverpool are leading the race to snap up Moukoko, whose contract at Dortmund is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The report states that La Liga giants Madrid and Barcelona are set to rival Jurgen Klopp’s charges for the German international’s services alongside reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Dortmund have not given up hope of keeping hold of Bellingham and Moukoko, who earn a combined £53,300-per-week, but the lure of some of Europe’s top teams may be hard to turn down.

What has O’Rourke said about Bellingham and Moukoko?

O’Rourke believes that it ‘won’t be easy’ for Liverpool to sign the Dortmund pair, although reckons the club’s supporters will be encouraged by their pursuit.

He said: “I think if Jude Bellingham excels for England at the World Cup, he’s got the potential to become a superstar in the game, and I’m sure you’ll have all the biggest clubs around the world looking to sign Bellingham.

“So, it won’t be easy for Liverpool to sign either of these players, but it’s exciting for the fans that they’re in the mix for both of them.”

Would Bellingham and Moukoko be good signings?

Bellingham has racked up 40 goal contributions in 112 appearances for BVB across all competitions, claiming one DFB-Pokal crown along the way.

The England international is likely to be a key player for Gareth Southgate’s charges in this month’s World Cup, and if he hits top form in Qatar, then Bellingham’s stock is only going to rise even further.

Moukoko made his senior debut for Germany in a friendly against Oman this week and will be hoping to make his mark in the fast-approaching showpiece event.

He has found the back of the net on 11 occasions in 59 outings for Dortmund, setting up eight further strikes, and would be another astute acquisition for Liverpool.
