Liverpool enter negotiations with Sporting’s Rúben Amorim

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool have officially opened talks and negotiations with Sporting head coach Rúben Amorim’s representatives. The Reds are currently searching for a successor to Jurgen Klopp when the German coach leaves Anfield at the end of the season.

Xabi Alonso was initially pinpointed as Liverpool’s number-one target to take over from Klopp, according to Foot Mercato. However, the Bayer Leverkusen coach has decided to stay at his current club. This has forced the newly appointed sporting structure at Anfield to focus their efforts elsewhere. Negotiations have now officially opened with Amorim now the club’s number one target.

The negotiations between Liverpool and Amorim also involve some familiar faces. The Reds have previously worked with Amorim’s representatives. Luís Diaz shares the same representatives and agents as Amorim, meaning a rapport has already been built between the respective parties following the Colombian winger’s transfer from Porto.

Aware of interest

Rúben Amorim is aware of the interest shown him by Liverpool, Foot Mercato report. Nevertheless, the Sporting CP coach could win a double with his current club and that is the main focus of his managerial efforts for the time being.
