According to Marca, the return of Lionel Messi to Barcelona next summer is very unrealistic.
Yesterday it was communicated that Joan Laporta was asked about whether the Argentine forward would play for the Blaugrana again. However, the Barcelona president preferred not to comment on the situation stating it would be disrespectful to PSG to discuss Messi’s future.
Earlier this month it was reported that the 35-year-old, whose deal with PSG is set to expire in June 2023, has put on hold any contract extension negotiations until at least the new year.
Nonetheless, it appears very unlikely that Messi will return to Barcelona as they may not be able to afford him unless he takes a major salary cut. In order to comply with Fair Play regulations, the Catalan outfit would have to free up a budget of €100m if they are to sign someone with a wage of over €25m.
