Bruno Genesio confirmed on Wednesday that André Gomes (32) was nearing a move away from Lille OSC. It is for that reason that the former Barcelona and Everton midfielder will play no part tonight when LOSC face Crvena Zvezda in the UEFA Europa League. Foot Mercato have now revealed the Portugal international’s next destination.
Sidelined from the first team due to multiple physical problems, the Portuguese international, who has 29 caps to his name, has played only seven minutes in two Ligue 1 appearances this season. However, even without the aforementioned injury problems, competition for places in the midfield is intense – when all players are fit – and so Lille have opted to sell Gomes.
He is set for a move to the MLS, Foot Mercato understands. More specifically, he is set to join Columbus Crew, where he is expected to sign a deal that will run until 2029. He is now set to travel to complete the move.
