Bayer 04 Leverkusen confirmed the unfortunate news today that playmaker Florian Wirtz’s ankle injury will keep him off the training pitch indefinitely.
The ankle injury that led to German phenom Florian Wirtz’s subbing off at the half in last night’s Nations League victory will keep the 21-year-old from returning to club training for the time being. German Champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen confirmed on Tuesday that Wirtz suffered a suspected capsule injury in his right ankle.
The nature of such an injury doesn’t necessarily mean that Wirtz will be out long-term. It nevertheless likely counts as certain that he will not be available for the weekend Bundesliga fixture against high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt. Wirtz’s status for next Wednesday’s UCL match against Stade Brest also counts as doubtful.
