Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has commented on speculation surrounding the future of Xabi Alonso.
The Spanish coach has been linked with some of football’s biggest clubs and Carro is aware that the speculation will only increase if Leverkusen continue to play as well as they have so far this season.
“We are aware that if we are successful, other clubs will want to sign him,” Carro told Sport Bild.
“But I also say that if he continues to feel so comfortable with us, and we feel comfortable with him, then first a club has to come where he says: I want to go there.”
Alonso only recently extended his contract with Leverkusen until 2026 in early August.
