All 26 Germany players participated in training on Friday afternoon as they prepare for a showdown against Spain. Included is Leroy Sané, who returned after missing Germany’s World Cup opener with a knee injury that he picked up in the final training session before their 2-1 defeat against Japan.
Sané (26) took part in the warm-up and did some ball work but didn’t complete the full session as Hansi Flick remained cautious with the Bayern Munich player as not to aggravate the injury further, according to Sportbuzzer. That could mean a return against Spain if Sané’s knee doesn’t react in the coming hours.
The remaining 25 players completed the full training session ahead of Sunday’s game against Spain, a match they can’t afford to lose if they want to advance to the knockout stages. Flick will hold a final session on Saturday in preparation.
Germany face Group E leaders Spain, who put seven goals past Costa Rica. The pressure is on Flick’s side as they look to avoid elimination from the group stage in successive tournaments.
