Rising MMA star Carlos Prates brutally beat the former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards by brutal knockout in the second round on the main card at UFC 322, which took place on the 15th of November at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The 170-pound bout was a true passing-of-the-torch event as Prates, 32, has only been beaten of late by Ian Machado Garry but has finished the likes of Li Jingliang, Neil Magny, and Geoff Neal. Standing across from him was Edwards, who finished Kamaru Usman with a head kick to win the title only three years ago, in one of the most iconic MMA scenes in modern history. Head shot. Bang.
But, on Saturday, it was Edwards who got banged as Prates added Leon to his budding resume. And boy, was it bad.
