It is one of the biggest games of the season for Leeds United supporters this weekend as the Whites host Manchester United at Elland Road.
The rivalry between the two sides is fierce, dating back decades, and, this early in the season, it is the home side who have the upper hand.
Daniel Farke’s side have enjoyed a fine start to the new 2026/27 campaign, losing just once in their opening six matches to sit seventh in the table. Victory over United on Sunday could move them into the top four, depending on results elsewhere.
Three points would also take them well clear of their opponents, with Manchester United already three points behind them in the table after just one win from their opening six matches of the campaign.
Farke will want to have a full squad at his disposal, but he does have a couple of injury concerns going into the match. Here GIVEMESPORT takes a look at those who are injury doubts for the big game.
Joe Rodon
The Welsh defender is definitely ruled out of the clash with United, although he is working his way back to full fitness.
He has been doing some work on the grass following a thigh injury, but those have been individual sessions.
Farke’s update on Friday afternoon suggests he is making good progress and could be back in action soon.
Daniel James
The winger returned from international duty with Wales having picked up a lower back injury that kept him out of the match with Arsenal last weekend – the Whites’ first defeat of the season.
Farke delivered an update on the Welsman’s fitness in his pre-match press conference, saying:
“So since yesterday he was back on the pitch with us. Right now, we have to wait how his body reacts. But at least good news with him – he is back in training and seems to be improved, yes. The intensity in the last days was not too high.”
Mateo Joseph
The young Spanish forward has not been seen in a Leeds shirt since helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2024/25.
An anterior cruciate ligament injury has kept him out of action since then, and he remains sidelined with a return date of the beginning of 2027 pencilled in.
