Leeds keen to keep Wilfried Gnonto despite player’s protests

Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto wants to leave the club and has made it clear to the top brass.

According to Corriere della Sera, the Italian international is eager to move elsewhere, but Leeds United don’t want to let him go.

Leeds are keen on making a swift return to the Premier League and are unwilling to part ways with their prized asset.

Gnonto’s stance became painfully evident during Leeds’ Championship opener, where he was conspicuously absent from the action on the field.

The message was clear. Gnonto has no intentions of donning the Leeds jersey for the upcoming season.

The young sensation also opted to train separately from the squad, further fuelling speculation about his uncertain future.

However, despite Gnonto’s fervent wishes, Leeds United have shown no inclination to let him go.

Leeds are resolute as they want to reclaim a spot in the Premier League. They see Gnonto as a crucial piece in that puzzle.

Everton have shown keen interest in the player but have had their hopes dashed with Leeds unwavering in their decision to retain their star.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke confirmed that Gnonto’s name would not be on the team sheet for their clash with West Bromwich Albion tomorrow.

Gnonto has already missed the first three games of the new season—the Championship opener against Cardiff City, the League Cup match against Shrewsbury Town, and their loss to Birmingham City.

He is reportedly frustrated over being denied a move to Everton.

As the young talent remains estranged from the squad, uncertainty hangs over his future involvement.

It remains to be seen whether the rift between Gnonto and Leeds United can be mended, potentially leading to a reunion with his teammates later in the season.

With emotions running high and ambitions diverging, the Gnonto-Leeds saga could eventually end in a sale, as keeping an unhappy player will be counter-productive to their plans.
