Lazio chief denies reports of Milinkovic-Savic’s agreement with Juventus

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has denied the rumours of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s agreement to join Juventus.

The Biancocelesti have remained steadfast when it comes to selling the Serbian midfielder, managing to keep hold of him despite interest from Europe’s top clubs in the summer.

Milinkovic-Savic’s demand has only grown following his exquisite start to the 2022/23 season, racking up three goals and seven assists in Serie A.

Juventus hold a long-term interest in the Serbian midfielder, and recent reports stated that they are exploring a move for him in January to reinforce their squad following a struggling start to the new season – only four wins out of a possible 14 in all competitions this term.

Manchester United are also said to be another suitor, but Lotito has ruled out Milinkovic-Savic’s exit in January, slapping an expensive price tag of €120 million.

“I’ve no agreement with his agent to sell Sergej to Juventus or any other club in January.

“Price tag for Milinković is no longer €100m — his value is €120m now, ” Lotito told Il Messaggero (h/t Fabrizio Romano).

The Italian capital outfit are planning for talks with the Serb and his agent Mateja Kezman over a contract extension.

However, the catch is that they would have to lower the asking fee for the 27-year-old should they fail to convince him of a new deal, with his current one expiring in the summer of 2024.

Milinkovic-Savic’s red-hot form has helped Maurizio Sarri’s side sit third in the Serie A table, and he will be looking to make an impact with Serbia in World Cup 2022.
