Lautaro Martinez provides contract update after Inter’s win over Udinese: “It won’t be long”

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has spoken out over his ongoing negotiations with the club, on the back of the Nerazzurri’s latest dominant victory.

Inter of course marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Udinese to San Siro.

Simone Inzaghi’s troops headed into proceedings in the knowledge that nothing but a three-point haul would suffice, after being replaced atop the Serie A table by arch rivals Juventus.

And, when all was said and done, march on to another win is precisely what the evening’s hosts managed.

A dominant display ultimately gave rise to a 4-0 result, with the aforementioned Martinez having rounded out the scoring with his 14th of the season late on.

Speaking to the media post-match, the Argentine was in turn drawn on his future once more.

This comes amid ongoing negotiations between Inter and his representatives, over a new long-term contract.

And Martinez went on to confirm that discussions are nearing a conclusion, with the frontman confident that ‘it won’t be long’ before an announcement is forthcoming:

“I hope soon,” he explained to DAZN, as cited by TuttomercatoWeb. “I don’t know if it will arrive by Christmas but it won’t be long.”
