With the number 41 on his back, Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana became, at just 15 years old, the youngest debutant in Barcelona’s history when he replaced Gavi against Real Betis on Saturday night.
The boy born in Esplugues and raised in Mataró and Granollers, with a Moroccan father and Guinean mother, is one of the greatest talents that La Masia has produced in recent times.
Lamine, who doesn’t turn 16 until July, was called up by Xavi for first-team training on 8 April and eventually got his moment as the Blaugrana ran out 4-0 winners over Betis at Camp Nou.
Three minutes after coming on, he was denied his first goal by goalkeeper Rui Silva. Shortly afterwards, he played a ball into the box for Ousmane Dembélé, which the Frenchman was unable to take advantage of.
A left-footed player with the ability to play as a right winger and centre-forward, he breaks a record dating back to 1941, report AS.
Vicenç Martínez (1925-2018) made his debut at the age of 16 years and ten months, one year older than Lamine.
