Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé secured for himself a noteworthy piece of European football history on Wednesday night.
This, of course, came amid a Man of the Match display on the part of the Frenchman.
Real Madrid welcomed Premier League champions Manchester City to Spain’s capital yesterday evening, for the 2nd leg of a Champions League playoff tie.
And, en route to a 3-1 Blancos triumph, Mbappé dazzled courtesy of a wonderful hat-trick.
As much proved enough to guide Carlo Ancelotti’s troops into the Last-16 of the Champions League.
As alluded to above, though, his endeavours did not only prove significant from a collective standpoint for the reigning European champions.
In addition, Mbappé etched his name into the history books on an individual basis.
As revealed by statisticians Opta:
‘Kylian Mbappé is the only player in the history of the European Cup/Champions League to score a hat-trick at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Real Madrid today against City, and at the Camp Nou, against Barcelona with PSG in 2021.’
