Kylian Mbappé was absent from France’s 2-1 defeat against Germany on Tuesday through a minor knee injury, however, he trained normally with his Paris Saint-Germain teammates today. Meanwhile, Marco Asensio will be treated for a foot injury, “at least until the end of the month,” the club have confirmed in a press release.
There had been fears that Mbappé wouldn’t be fit enough to face OGC Nice at the Parc des Princes on Friday, however, those fears are dissipating. The France captain trained with his teammates as normal at Le Campus on Thursday following positive clinical tests.
However, the news is not quite so positive for Asensio. The summer signing was injured on international duty with Spain, and PSG have confirmed that he will undergo treatment at least until the end of September. He will therefore miss PSG’s Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund, at least. His national team manager, Luis de la Fuente stated that he believes the Spanish forward will be out until the next international break in mid-October.
Fabián Ruiz’s participation in Friday night’s match is also in doubt. He is undergoing a personalised schedule after feeling discomfort in his left calf.
