Controversial influencer Andrew Tate suffered a shock loss to Chase DeMoor in the main event of Misfits Mania on Saturday night, and it didn’t take his long-time rival, KSI, long to have his say on the result.
It was announced in October that Tate had replaced KSI as the CEO of Misfits Boxing. As part of the deal to bring the ‘Top G’ into the promotion, Tate was granted an immediate shot at the company’s heavyweight champion, DeMoor.
KSI made no secret of the fact that he was fuming about the decision and has barely mentioned Misfits on his social media since. That is despite him being a co-founder of the company, alongside manager Mams Taylor.
However, that all changed after Tate was on the receiving end of an upset defeat in Dubai. Although he is an experienced martial artist with MMA, kickboxing, K1 and Muay Thai bouts on his resume, Tate hadn’t fought professionally in any discipline in five years. He also didn’t have a single boxing match on his record.
For the first two rounds of his fight with DeMoor, that didn’t seem to matter, as heavy favourite Tate made an encouraging start. As time wore on, though, ‘King Cobra’ began to look as though he was struggling with his cardio.
Chase DeMoor Came Close to Knocking Out Andrew Tate at Misfits Mania
DeMoor took full advantage by rocking Tate with a huge right hand and the complexion of the bout completely changed from that point on. The 29-year-old champion made his size advantage count and had his opponent in real danger of being stopped in the final two rounds.
To his credit, Tate survived, but he was sporting some pretty gruesome injuries after the bout. There was a massive cut over his right eye, together with significant bruising under both.
Although one judge scored the contest a 57-57 draw, the two remaining scorecards had it 58-56 for DeMoor, who walked away with a deserved victory.
KSI’s Tweet on Andrew Tate Losing His Boxing Debut
While many of Tate’s critics were delighted to see the polarising influencer on the received end of a setback, few were as thrilled as KSI. Less than 24 hours earlier, the 32-year-old had celebrated seeing another of his rivals, Jake Paul, brutally knocked out by Anthony Joshua.
Then, just moments before Tate made his ring walk to face DeMoor, noted Arsenal fan KSI had watched his team secure a crucial 1-0 win over Everton to ensure they went back to the top of the Premier League table.
KSI simply couldn’t hide his glee when his Saturday night was rounded off by Tate’s defeat. Shortly after the bout, he told his 8.3 million followers on Twitter:
“This is the best weekend I’ve had this year omg”.
The Londoner couldn’t resist having one more pop at both Paul and Tate as he swiftly uploaded a split image of the pair after their respective defeats with the caption: “Christmas came early”.
It is unknown what Tate’s loss to DeMoor will mean for his future or whether it will ultimately result in KSI being reinstated as Misfits CEO. It is clear, though, that Saturday’s result made the British social media star a very happy man.
