After missing Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 win over FC St. Pauli at the weekend, Marcel Sabitzer remains unavailable for his side’s Champions League clash with Tottenham on Tuesday night.
“Sabi has calf problems,” said Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac at a press conference ahead of the game.
“It’s nothing spectacular as such, but he needs to take a break for some time. The calf is a muscle that’s put under a lot of strain.”
In Sabitzer’s absence, Jobe Bellingham started alongside Felix Nmecha in central midfield against St. Pauli, and the Englishman is expected to retain his place on Tuesday.
The main alternative is Carney Chukwuemeka, who would provide a more attacking option.
Salih Özcan, another player who can operate in midfield, is not registered for the Champions League.
