Jonas Urbig will get a rare chance in goal for Bayern Munich when the German champions face Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.
This was confirmed by Bayern coach Vincent Kompany at his pre-match press conference.
“Jonas Urbig will start tomorrow. I don’t normally say anything about the starting XI, but I’ve learnt that goalkeepers are always a bit different,” said Kompany.
Bayern want Urbig to get some match practice before Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal game, where he will also play as Manuel Neuer is suspended.
“We discussed it clearly, which also has to do with the fact that Jonas will play at Köln. In this case, clarity is important,” added the Bayern coach.
Kompany also revealed that both Josip Stanišić and Serge Gnabry could return to the squad after injury breaks.
“If Josip Stanišić and Serge Gnabry train as normal, they’ll be in the squad,” he said.
