Kicker reports that 1. FC Köln are preparing to sign Bayern Munich midfield talent Felipe Chavez on loan. The Bundesliga’s cathedral city club will have a chance to sign the 18-year-old permanently at the end of the season. The German record champions have nevertheless hedged their bets by securing a buyback option for the once-capped Peruvian international.

Chavez made two recent substitute appearances under FCB head coach Vincent Kompany, both coming in the new 2026 calendar year. All told, Chavez only logged 11 minutes of official action. Unofficially, however, Chavez placed himself on the radar with an excellent performance in a January friendly before the 2026 restart.
Chavez combined with German phenom Lennart Karl on two occasions, assisting on a Karl goal and notching his own tally via a Karl assist in a 5-0 tune-up win over RB Salzburg. Kompany also selected Chavez for his Champions League matchday squad against PSV Eindhoven, but the teenage talent remained on the bench.
