Sky Germany reports that 1. FC Köln are lining up second and third division sides as loan destinations for recently returned striker Florian Dietz.

After finally making a long-awaited comeback from a serious knee injury last Sunday, Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln apparently envision a loan-out to the German lower divisions as a best means to ensure 25-year-old striker Florian Dietz can play his way back into form. Sky Germany reports that both second and third division sides are being considered, with Rot-Weiß Essen being specifically named as one interested party.
Dietz joined the Effzeh from 3. Liga side SpVgg Unterhaching during the summer 2021 transfer window on a free. He scored one top flight goal for the cathedral city side in addition to netting two tallies during Köln’s 2022/23 Conference League campaign. Among one of the seven players Köln are rumored to be shopping in the coming transfer window, Dietz remains under contract with Köln through 2025.
