Gregor Kobel was on Borussia Dortmund’s plane to Sevilla yesterday, giving a glimmer of hope that he could feature at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán tonight.
However, Kobel will not be involved in the match after sitting out of Dortmund’s final training session in Sevilla.
“We hope that things will develop very well in the next few days, so that we can quickly count on him again,” head coach Edin Terzic said at yesterday’s press conference.
Dortmund’s first-choice goalkeeper has missed Dortmund’s last five games in all competitions due to injury.
Time will tell if Kobel will be fit for Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash with Bayern München. Alexander Meyer will continue to deputize for him until further notice.
