Ko Itakura could leave Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer with several Bundesliga sides interested

Rheinische Post reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Ko Itakura could leave the club in the summer, and staying in Germany is an option.

Despite Gladbach competing for a place in Europe this season, departures are likely. This was even confirmed by sporting director Roland Virkus:

“I don’t see the danger of a sell-off.” The strategy for this summer: “We first have to see what’s happening on the departure side to know where we need to take action.”

Itakura is very likely to be one of the players to leave this summer. Previously, it was reported that he is delaying extending his contract at the club, which would put Gladbach in a position where they would be forced to sell the Japanese international.

Several clubs from across Europe are interested, but so are teams in Germany. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Eintracht Frankfurt are mentioned as teams linked to the 28-year-old.

The defender may be followed by Julian Weigl out of the door. The former German international has been linked to Leeds United and Red Bull Salzburg in the past week.
