Kleindienst set to transfer to Gladbach

German journalist Jan Lustig of the country’s preeminent footballing publication reports that 1. FC Heidenheim striker Tim Kleindienst has opted to join Borussia Mönchengladbach ahead of next season. Lustig reports that the 28-year-old may have completed his medical at Borussia Park on Thursday. 

Gladbach’s courting of 1. FC Heidenheim striker Tim Kleindienst is apparently about to pay off. German footballing journalist Jan Lustig of Kicker Magazine reports that Kleindienst has decided to make the move to the foals. Moreover, after being spotted at Borussia Park on Thursday, may have even just completed his medical. Lustig claims that Gladbach will pay €7-8 million to acquire the German forward. 

Kleindienst signed a new deal with his current club ahead of their inaugural season in the Bundesliga last summer. The restructured contract was widely reported to have an exit clause that would enable the 28-year-old to depart if he completed a successful season in the top flight. After initially struggling through patches, Kleindienst finished the campaign strongly. He ultimately ended up recording 12 league goals and five assists. 

After another underachieving year, Gladbach have had quite the proactive offseason. Kiel skipper Philipp Sander has already signed on to play for Geardo Seoane’s foals next season as has VfL Bochum attacker Kevin Stöger. Stuttgart and Union were reportedly among the other interested parties angling for Kleindienst, but the foals evidently convinced him to join their project in the end.
