Kim Min-jae not “completely satisfied” with first half-season at Bayern

In a fresh interview with t-online.de, Kim Min-jae reflects on his first six months as a Bayern Munich player and says he is not entirely satisfied with his time in Germany so far.

Kim Min-jae has revealed that he is not “completely satisfied” with his first six months as a Bayern Munich player.

Despite playing in all but two of the German champions’ matches since his summer move from Napoli, the centre-back says he does not feel 100 percent confident about his starting place when both Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt are also fully fit.

“I am not completely satisfied with my first six months in the Bundesliga. I still don’t feel like a regular player,” Kim told t-online.de, pointing out that de Ligt has missed large parts of the season so far due to injury.

“That’s why I’m still unsure. When the three of us are really competing, you don’t know how it will turn out.”

Kim is aware that his starting spot will be up for grabs when he travels to play for South Korea in the Asian Cup, which will take place from January 12 to February 10.

“If Upa and Matthijs play well during that time, they will probably be the defensive pairing after that,” he conceded.

“If another player plays well in my absence, he will continue to be trusted. That’s the inevitable reality. So when I come back, I have to continue to fight for my place and perform well.”
