Bryan Zaragoza scored his first Espanyol goal as the Catalan club dropped crucial points in Malaga. The 25-year-old evaded challenges before finding the net with a precise finish from the left flank.

After they defended their 13th-minute strike until the injury-time, Espanyol failed to hold on for three points as they conceded in the last action of the game. As he was cautioned before the break in a game that ended with nine yellow cards, Manolo Gonzalez subbed the Spaniard with 20 minutes left to play.

FC Bayern will hope Zaragoza will leave the club permanently at the end of the season as he’s now on his fourth loan away from the Rekordmeister. He played seven Bundesliga games for Bayern during the 2023/24 season.

Former Bayern fullback Adam Aznou made his debut for the newly-promoted side, while the German center-back Clemens Riedel played 90 minutes for Espanyol. The hosts are still in the relegation zone, while Espanyol missed out on climbing to the top half of the standings.

Espanyol’s next game will be at home against second-placed Atletico Madrid. Zaragoza has been unable to score more than one goal in a season since his last campaign with Granada before joining Bayern in January 2024.
