The former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has released a statement after footage that showed him being deplaned from a Las Vegas flight to Los Angeles went viral.
Nurmagomedov is traveling to Southern California to help a number of his fighters who are competing in high-level MMA bouts on Saturday, the 18th of January. His cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov, challenges Merab Dvalishvili for the UFC bantamweight championship at UFC 311, a pay-per-view event that ESPN is broadcasting from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. In the main event, Islam Makhachev defends his UFC lightweight title against Arman Tsarukyan.
But, ahead of the highly-anticipated fight week, drama struck while the Dagestan fight squad were on board a Fly Frontier flight.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Releases Statement
MMA coach said he was complying with instruction, but was deplaned regardless
Nurmagomedov clarified speculation to start with, saying that it was not an AlaskaAir flight but, rather, Fly Frontier. He said he was talked to rudely, that he was clear that he would assist as he was sitting in the exit row, and would, in an emergency, be required to help others. The flight attendant, he said, was insistant on removing him from his seat and, ultimately, deplaning him.
“Lady who comes to me with questions was very rude from the very beginning,” said Nurmagomedov. “Even though I speak very decent English and can understand everything and agreed to assist, she still insists on removing me from my seat.”
“What was the base for that, racial, national or other one, I’m not sure.”
“But after 2 minutes of conversation, she called security and I was deplaned from this aircraft, after 1.5-hour I boarded another airline one and left to my destination.”
“I did my best to stay calm and respecttul as you can see on the video. But those crew members could do better next time and just be nice with clients.”

Nurmagomedov will play a prominent role at UFC 311 as he’ll be cornering the two championship bouts, firstly, for his cousin, Umar, and then for Makhachev. UFC 311 airs on ESPN.
