Sevilla’s matchday squad for today’s game against Celta Vigo sees some important faces return for head coach José Luis Mendilibar.
AS report that Papu Gómez, Karim Rekik, and Marcao will all return to the squad as the Andalusian side look to build on their recent win over Cádiz. The three players come in to strengthen the squad after each suffered their own injuries.
Fernando Reges also returns to the squad after a four-game suspension, and will likely be seen in the starting lineup. As for the other three new inclusions, Mendilibar’s pre-match interview suggests they will play very little if at all.
While there is plenty of good news for Sevilla fans to be happy about, their joy may be slightly marred by the list of players who will be unavailable. Joan Jordán and Jesús Corona will miss the match due to minor injuries, while winger Lucas Ocampos picked up his fifth yellow card last week and will therefore serve a suspension.
Sevilla are looking to solidify a place away from the relegation zone after a nightmarish start to the season. It will also be Mendilibar’s first home game in charge of the team as they aim to extend the four-point lead currently between them and the bottom three spots.
