Sky Germany is currently reporting that SC Freiburg midfielder and heavily capped Germany U21 international Yannik Keitel has sewn up an agreement to join VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer this coming summer.

Homegrown SC Freiburg talent and 15-times-capped Germany U21 international Yannik Keitel will be moving north to Stuttgart on a free-transfer this summer. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has 53 top-tier appearances for his academy club to his credit. Despite being considered one of SCF trainer Christian Streich’s favored projects, Keitel has made just three league appearances this season.

The Breisgauer appeared to show little interest in extending Keitel’s expiring contract. The youngster has been free to negotiate with other clubs since the current transfer window opened. A winter departure for Keitel seems unlikely, but not necessarily out of the question if Freiburg can procure reinforcements and Stuttgart may be willing to pay a fee. Keitel maintains an estimated market worth of €4 million.
