Eintracht Frankfurt have been dealt a major blow with the news that Kaua Santos sustained a serious knee injury during their Europa League defeat to Tottenham on Thursday.
Detailed examinations on Friday afternoon confirmed a torn cruciate ligament. As a result, the 22-year-old goalkeeper is expected to be sidelined for several months.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has started the last seven matches for Eintracht, filling in for the injured Kevin Trapp.
It’s uncertain if Trapp will be fit in time for Sunday’s Bundesliga clash against Augsburg. If not, third-choice keeper Jens Grahl is expected to step in.
To make matters worse for Die Adler, Mario Götze also picked up an injury against Tottenham.
The club announced on Friday that the attacking midfielder has suffered a thigh muscle injury and will be out until further notice.
