Former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema made sure to reach out to Vinícius Jr. through social media, amid the Brazilian’s difficult evening on Monday.
Wide-man Vinícius has of course seen his name dominate the headlines across world football over the last 24 hours.
This comes after the 24-year-old – long considered something of a shoo-in for the prize – was snubbed for the Ballon d’Or trophy at the last.
The 2024 ‘Golden Ball’, instead, went the way of Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
Messages of support, in turn, have since come flooding in for the no doubt crestfallen Vinícius, from teammates past and present alike.
And, as alluded to above, adding his name to this list late on Monday was none other than Karim Benzema.
Taking to his official Instagram account, frontman Benzema, a previous Ballon d’Or winner, unveiled a photo of he and his ex-Real Madrid teammate, accompanied by the caption:
‘Too strong’
